On 6 November 2025, NWO will organise a matchmaking event for the NWA Call ‘Municipal policy for biodiversity restoration’. During the matchmaking event, those interested in this call can meet each other, exchange research ideas and make new connections.

The Call focuses on developing knowledge for the transition to nature-inclusive municipal policy for biodiversity restoration in built-up areas. The programme operates at the intersection of knowledge and policy and aims to contribute to the following through living labs:

  • action perspectives for nature-inclusive policy development, political decision-making and  policy implementation at the municipal level in the built environment;
  • better utilisation of knowledge and knowledge exchange between research and municipalities, between municipalities themselves, and with other authorities;
  • social insight and awareness within the municipal organisation itself that nature is of vital importance and of great value to society.

Research in living labs ensures that questions arising from municipal practice are given centre stage. The programme focuses on the built environment at the municipal level.

The matchmaking meeting is aimed at forming living labs in which researchers, municipalities and other social parties conduct transdisciplinary research together. These living labs can then submit a pre-application.

Registration deadline: 28 October 2025
