The SSH-council includes the chairs of the four SSH-councils of deans. Each council of deans consists of 9 to 15 members, being the deans of faculties at Dutch universities within their respective sector.

The four SSH-sectors, each with its own council of deans, are:

1. Social Sciences
2. Humanities
3. Economics and Business
4. Law
