Once a year, the Route Living Past organises an in-person networking event. It is a great opportunity to meet one another, catch up on current projects and contribute ideas on the direction of the route. In recent years, we have consistently managed to bring together around 80 participants from a wide range of fields, thereby facilitating a genuine dialogue between researchers from various disciplines and organisations, and societal stakeholders from government bodies, heritage institutions, individuals from the creative, cultural and education sectors, as well as interested students and members of the public in the broadest sense of the word.
Aim of the day
The Networking Day brings together researchers, civil society partners and policymakers involved in the NWA Living Past Route. The event has four objectives:
- to meet one another and strengthen the network;
- to exchange knowledge on ongoing initiatives that give substance to the Living Past Route within the various NWA instruments;
- to work together on innovation and new collaborations;
- to gather input for the Route’s strategic direction, the development of its instruments for the period 2027-2030, and future NWA programme beyond 2029.
The Living Past Route connects projects and initiatives across the full breadth of the National Science Agenda that are relevant to the game-changers: Contested Heritage; Sustainability and Temporality; and The Citizen as Expert. In doing so, we aim to foster cross-fertilisation between research, scientific and societal impact, policy development, innovation and science communication. Equality, accessibility and transparency are high on the agenda.
